If you like iTunes, look at the J. River Media Center player.

It has an iTunes like UI with much more flexibility.  (I have 5 browser
panes in my classical music view scheme and different view schemes for
other kinds of music.  MC was the only really satisfactory player
(Windows based) that I found. MC has a built-in secure ripper that
works as well as EAC and great tag editing facilities.  If I see
something wrong with a tag while I'm browsing for music, I fix it then.
And MC works fine with Flac.  Some people on this forum use MC to edit
tags and then play music with Slimserver/Squeezebox.

The MC program costs $ 40 but it is worth it to me.  Your decision
mnight be different.

You aren't the first person to ask for a way to route output from
Itunes or other player programs to the Squeezebox.  I think you saw
from this thread that Slimserver/Squeezebox has lots of fans who like
it the way it is and are not sympathetic to suggestions that the system
is lacking.  It is a different architecture that might fit you or it
might not.
