DSL and Cable are both perfectly capable of providing a good, stable connection for streaming internet radio. That said, there are also horrid examples of each.
Your best bet is to talk with people in your local community. Where I live, DSL from the phone company has a pretty dang good reputation while the cable company has the reputation from hell. In another city, the opposite may be true - or both may have good reputations - or both may be lousy.
