Quite a few people have requested better playlist managment, whether
via drag-n-drop or some other method (personally, while DnD would be
nice, I think the "netflix" method might be even better -- oh, and
obligatory caveat that I haven't searched to see if there's a plugin to
do it already!)

I'd like to suggest some other ways that one might like to manage a
playlist. I'd like to be able to sort a playlist by say artist, or
genre, or album. For example, suppose I decide I in fact don't want to
hear Artist X afterall -- it might be difficult to even find all of the
relevant tracks in the playlist, much less delete them. Being able to
sort by artist would allow you to delete them quickly.

I'd suggest one could go further with this idea. The notion of
browsing by a single tag and only returning lists containing one piece
of information (artist, album, or track title) is too restrictive. It
is more powerful to display several tags, such as artist, album, track,
genre, and allow the user to filter the set by any tag, and to sort the
results by any tag, much the way iTunes and most other media players
work.

Granted this might be slow in a browser. Also, this style of interface
is completely unsuited to the squeezebox+remote, and so you would be
breaking any similarity in the way you control the server via the web
interface and the way you do it from the remote. This might turn off
new users.
