Please save me from throwing SB into river!

Running off OS X 10.4 off my iMac; wireless network; iTunes server.

Things were going great for 2 years. Suddenly, with absolutely no
changes on my end...

SB started losing total connection on a regular basis, sometimes
stopping mid-stream, sometime simply powering off while not in use.
Each time I lost connection I had to set up network again from start in
order to reconnect to SlimServer. Sometimes I could obtain IP
automatically, sometimes I had to obtain it manually. Sometime I
reconnected immediately, sometimes I had to go through motions a dozen
times to reconnect. No rhyme nor reason. But each time the "fix" lasted
anywhere from 5 minutes to a few hours; it always disconnected no matter
what I did.

My solution? I upgraded firmware and re-installed latest SlimServer.
Now, I am fully upgraded. The situation improved for a few days...

But now...SB runs fine until my iMac goes to sleep. (My iMac settings
are set to wake up when pinged, as before.) Now when I try to
reconnect, SB tries (unsuccessfully) to connect to a network I've never
seen before, and a machine called "testmachine" (which never appeared on
SB before) is the only computer I can connect to. In other words, it
does not recognize my network or iMac.

I have to try to reset network settings, play around with SB settings
for 30 minutes, check my iMac settings, and then, for no rhyme nor
reason, my network and machine appear as if nothing was wrong, and all
is "well" again.

RE: my wireless network. My laptop, sitting 2 feet from SB, connects
fine and has never had network interruption; signal is "excellent". SB
network signal ranges from 50% to 85%.

I'm stymied; when connected, I'm in love; when disconnected, which is a
constant issue now, I want divorce.

Help save this marriage!
