It could be hardware, but its unlikely. It happens all the time because
WiFi is not a great system, but its popular so folks use it all the
time. I can see 5 different WiFi networks from my living room, one is
from a house at least 400 yards away.

You could open up your squeezebox and see if the wifi card has worked
loose. It happens rarely, but it does happen.

You can change the channel your WiFi router/access point uses.
You may find one not as crowded.

If you have a router than can be hacked, such as a Linksys WRT54GL you
can install DD-WRT in it. It lets you do things like increase the power
on your router to improve the signal.

You can also try a 'high gain' antenna for your router.
