Below is a copy of an email I sent to SlimDevices sales and support.
Users comments would be greatly appreciated as we may be able to get
SlimDevices to come out with right product.

Dear Management & Designers (I hope this gets to you),

I was thrilled when I saw that SlimDevices would be coming out with an
LCD display controller because I have been so frustrated by the one
line display of the SqueezeBox. However, when I read that the screen
size was 2.4” my enthusiasm was completely deflated. I have looked
forward to an LCD screen from you (a la Sonos or iPhone) for years. The
benefit of visually scrolling through a graphic (album cover)
representation of a music collection has so much more efficiency and
satisfaction. Importantly, as millions of iPhone users, other cell
phone LCD screen squinters and PDA users would attest, a larger screen
or larger screen font is a significant factor in their purchasing
decision. The demographic that can afford and will buy your product is
mainly presbyopic (i.e., they need reading glasses). These are people
that earn the income to have homes or multi-room
apartments/condos, they have a good or high quality stereo system, they
are digitally savvy with backup hard drives and networks, they are
educated and they are probably not in their 20’s or early 30’s. You are
missing the appeal to this market by putting a cell phone-sized screen
on a stick.

The SqueezeBox Controller will miss its opportunity to be a runaway hit
and quash the pricier competition (Sonos). If you must make and sell
this product with this small screen, I would debut a prototype on your
website of a more expensive larger LCD screen controller. Those that
are price conscious and are comfortable with the smaller screen will
rush in to buy that. Those that will only want to use the larger screen
will say “they
finally got it right and it’s worth waiting and paying for”.

I accept that it doesn’t help that my digital music collection is
hundreds of albums and thousands of songs. However, this is probably
typical of most of your customers that have gone digital. You can
imagine how cumbersome the SqueezeBox is to use with this library,
especially if you lack the facility of a computer-gamer. It has gotten
to the point where I now mainly
use the SqueezeBox as an Internet radio station tuner. A larger screen
LCD controller would open my whole music collection again. Please
consider this device and the wisdom of this strategic marketing move.
Thank you for your consideration in reading this.

Sincerely,
Steve
