Another vote for powered speakers... For the type of installation it would be aimed at (bedroom / kitchen / etc...) why would I want another box?; especially one with twiddly tone knobs - why not add a 'bass boost' button while your at it? My AE AEGO M's sound great and the AudioEngine A2's look like a really nice alternative. My recommendation for future product development would be a Jive powered 'picture frame' display (controlled either with an IR remote or touch screen) that would allow everyone in the room to see what's playing and display the really nice UI of the new Squeezebox Controller.
