Side stepping Pippin's question for the moment there has been lots of discussions in this and other threads over appliances, NAS with server and other configurations that a number have claimed to be just what the market needs. I understand that there are NAS boxed that you can buy that have the server already installed. So why aren't those boxes selling like the proverbial hot cakes. If indeed everyone did want one of these then the NAS manufacturers would be 'falling over themselves' to install the software. In that case why should Slim/Logitech compete?
