Hi, I've got my LAN setup with dyndns and an ADSL connection and a Zyxel router provided by the ISP. The problem is that I cannot use the dyndns DN from within the LAN. It seems that from the LAN, the dyndns-name resolves to the correct WAN-IP.
lifebook34:~$ host ???.dyndns.org ???.dyndns.org has address 85.82.???.??? But the router routes directly to the LAN-IP lifebook34:~$ traceroute ???.dyndns.org traceroute to ???.dyndns.org (85.82.???.???), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1) 8.580 ms 8.705 ms 8.811 ms This make perfect sense, but it obviously causes port-forwarding to fail, and so I cannot connect to the server-machine. So how do I solve this? The only way I can think of is to somehow override the global DNS name when making lookups from the LAN. Is this possible? How to do it easily? I really want to avoid having to set up a local DNS-server. (hosts-file override is not an option since I move the hosts in question) Clearly I'm missing something here, so advice is greatly appreciated.
