I use dyndns too and I don't have a problem using the dyndns name to access my slimserver inside or outside of my LAN. Internally I use the server's name rather than the dyndns name, but I just tried it now using the dyndns name and it works. I didn't do anything special to make it work.
I'm using a linksys wrt-54gs router. Not sure why that would make a difference.
