The shares would be on NAS appliance, probably a Time Capsule since I'm
a Mac user. Although I'm aware that some NAS appliances can accommodate
the SqueezeCentre server, I'd really prefer to get a Time Capsule
because of its better MacOS integration. In these days of capable and
affordable appliances like the Time Capsule, I would really prefer to
do without the headache of setting up a dedicated server PC (been
there, done that, I'm ready for something plug and play now).

Online services such as Rhapsody aren't really an option for me because
they're lossy, and I don't want to pay subscription fees.

Not to get too sidetracked into a Sonos discussion, but it seemed from
what I read that just a Zoneplayer80 + controller would be sufficient.
Either way, its definitely more expensive than the Squeezebox, which
other than the server requirement, seems perfect for my needs.
