Open & play a file in Windows Media Player - then look at the properties (IIRC it is a menu option. It should open a window with details including "Audio codec" - copy the audio codec info to a post.
BBC sends live WMA streams - it sounds like total recorder copies the stream but doesn't write the correct header on the file.
