I stumbled over this post today:

Essentially it uses pandoc to convert MS word documents into markdown to
version control things in git.

I am starting a paper that will eventually have to be put my text into a
word document so I can work with my boss, and was wondering is there any
interest for me to document my process for a PR to teach novices?

Does anyone know of some other way we can track Word documents?
