Tim,

There are other choices though? IBooks and PowerBooks are not to be ignored. An IBook is a tough little beast and can be had for around a grand.

Besides the obvious things like the keyboard and monitor there is actually a huge difference in processor power. The MacMini is a G4 whereas the iMac is a G5. That in itself is quite huge. The numbers are sometimes deceiving when you see from 1.25 or 1.42 GHz G4 and a 1.9 GHz G5. I would venture to say that you *would* notice a difference if you were using the iMac. The iMac also comes with a much bigger HD and the DVD burner. In my opinion, you get a far better bang for your buck with the iMac although if you already have a keyboard and monitor that you would use for the Mini and finances are a factor then you should go with what works for you and your budget.
