How so, in those uses with which I'm accustomed, it allows one to use
preferences that make more sense to the user rather then prescriptions
someone else has chosen, regardless of how desirable those prescriptions
are.
This tends to be an inherent flaw in all gui systems, someone decides about
how and when and in what manner and in what order commands and other
actions are to be performed using menus or key commands. If there is some
other outcome preferred and the person making those choices for the user
hasn't considered it, too bad.
All of this is not the case in a cli such as terminal where key mapping and
exact and specific control over commands and actions are chosen by the user
in many cases.
