Hang on a sec. One of the Mac's major selling points, at least when
I visited my local Apple stockist for a demo before buying mine was
the fact that Apple has full control over the hardware and the
software in use. Following that logic, they should most definitely
be in a position to test with their own hardware I would think. Now,
I do grant you that they're not able to test all external
applications and services from other vendors. Regarding Rumpus
specifically, I have discovered that if I run it as a system service
under 10.4.4 it will not function correctly. The only way I can get
it to play ball is to run it as a start-up application, or start it
manually once all other services are logged in and settled
down. This never used to be the case with 10.4.3 and earlier. So I
can only assume that something has changed in the operating system
when it starts up. Because Rumpus has not changed. I don't use the
in-built FTP server because it doesn't have the power of Rumpus.

There were at least 21 iterations of 10.4.4. I doubt it would be
possible for apple to test every possible combination of software/
hardware out thhere, that's why they have a bug reporting system. If
your ftp server is broken, go report it, or complain to the company
that made the ftp server. I see no reason why anything dealing with
ftp should have broken, but then again, I don't use that ftp server,
I use the one built-in to osx, and am having no troubles with mine.
I'm also not having any problems that have been reported about vo on
this list either, so who knows.
