I only ask because a year or so ago, a antivirus company brought up something like that which turned out to only be a proof of concept and not an actual virus for the Mac. In other words, it was a "what if" scenario.

It looks pretty streight forward to me and seems to come from a reputable source although there is a cautionary note on the site to the effect that information is supplied by third parties. In any case, the suggested mittigation for the vulnerability is relatively harmless. I passed the test after implementing this mittigation step. -- Jonnie Apple Seed With his: Hands-On Technolog(eye)s On Feb 21, 2006, at 11:53 AM, John Panarese wrote: I'm trying to find out if this is real or not. A few times, rumors of viruses and such have been, how should we say, falsely spread by PC people only to be proven wrong. Has Apple officially posted anything on this? Take Care John D. Hi everyone: I tried to forward the actual security alert, but too long. Please see:http://secunia.com/advisories/18963/ This is a link to the security service that comes with my virus protection software. I took the test at their site and have the vulnerability. It executes terminal and then the calculator program. You need to disable "safe files' open in Safari. With a smile, Jane K. Personal Blog: http://cybergalsblog.blogspot.com/
