Hi Jane,
You might also want to check your Safari Preferences - General
settings section.
You have 3 options for "Remove download list items":
1. Manually
2. When Safari Quits
3. Upon Successful Download
If you have the third option selected, the file will be removed from
the list as soon as download is complete. Option 2 "When Safari
Quits" mey be your best bet.

Nope, It was over 20mb. :) And I have it downloaded already. I
wa sjust wondering how to avoid that in the future--I suppose the
only way to do that is to remember when I am downloading stuff not
to try and quit Safari.

Hi Jane,
Is the file you are downloading a small file?

Hi Scott. There's a bit of a misunderstanding here.
this only happens if I hit the command to quit Safari *while* a
download is in progress. When I cancel Safari from quitting and
I go back into the downloads window, I get a three items button,
but nothing else. The only way I know at that point if the file
is done is by constantly checking the desktop.

I think it was Jane who metnioned she didn't have any means to
interact with the group when in the download screen while Safari
is downloading. Actually while the download is going on, you can
interact with the list and get status on what's happening. WHen
the download is finished, you can no longer interact with the
list, but the download is completed. I do not know why this
window does not close, but it should in my opinion. I think this
isn't a bug per say, but it would make sense for it to close.
Now it is possible there's some message or some status info on
that screen, but since we can't get at it, the window might as
well be closed. Might put this in as an enhancement to Safari,
VO, or both.
