Yes it does it the most with mail for mine as well, but not exclusively.
I guess my reaction is probably more computer primevil"hit
escape!!!!!" Then it kicks back normally to "finder." Then wait a
second ot 2 and it usually comes back as normal with VO keys and D.
Sometimes though I escape and then Control + F3, and it works then.
I don't think I have ever tried just turning VO off, but I guess that
would work just as well. It seems to for some other problems that
occur sometimes.
Yes, more demonstrations of methods for skinning the cat again.But
that's what's neat about this list.

Yes Tom and Travis I have noticed it in both situations you
mentioned. More often in the closing of Mail which I attributed to
it possibly searching for new mail at just the wrong time or some
other related thing. When it's the dialog thing like Travis
mentioned, I either use the Window Chooser menu or turn off then on
VO and things improve. Thanks for the responses.
