how to back up mail boxes

I am selling my dual g4 today, with my 17 inch flat pannel display.  
for about 350 dollars. so, I am needing to back up my stuff. do you  
think if I back up my home directory, my mail and mailboxes in the  
mail program will be saved. if not how in the hell do I backup 1200  
messages? thanks.
