Thanx, Vickie!
Can you have your Mac connected to a 'phone line for faxing via
computer whilst you are connected to cable modem for e-mail and
internet searches at the same time? Or, must you disconnect the modem
to use the 'phone line and/or disconnect the 'phone line to use the
modem? I was told by a tech last year that the 'phone line had to be
disconnected from the machine [and I had to give up my dial-up
service] for I could not use the ethernet-connected external cable
modem and 'phone on the same Mac; not even with the 'phone line still
connected to the Mac although I gave up my dial-up service for the
broadband cable service [which I love, by the way]. I do not have a
stand-alone fax or all-in-one machine and therefore have to fax from
my computer.

yes you can. I have a separate phone line, a normal regular line, and
it is my fax number and you can receive and send faxes. You can also
just use you regular line doesnt matter.
