Blocks of text in text edit

Sorry, I have the feeling there's a glaringly obvious answer to this  
I should have been abel to find but I haven't found it. Is there a  
way to mark blocks of text in text edit and move or copy or delete  
them? I'm trying to break up a huge text file of the spanish Reina  
Valera Bible into books and hilighting line by line is obviously way  
too slow!!!

Also is there a text edit tutorial of some kind where I could learn  
such things?
