There is a Mac version of the unpack tool and you'll have to have
this in order to make use of the service. So, download it, install
it, and you'll have no problems.

Howdy, All!
I know this has been touched on and explained in depth before; but, at
that time I was not interested in downloading e-books. Now,
Bookshare.org has been highly recommended by a blind friend and I
tried downloading from their site [not yet member; but would like so
to become when my funds increase] Dante Alighieri's 'La Divina
Commedia [Il Inferno, Il Purgatorio é Il Paradiso [complete books of
cantos] in the Italian as '.html' and '.txt' files, but my TextEdit
opened them up as 'garbage'. Did not want to download their 'download
tools' as they were meant for Windows PC. Has anyone using only Mac OS
been successful in downloading 'public domain' books from Bookshare?
Is it possible? Can someone help me with this? Is there an alternative
site which might have these public domain books capable of being
downloaded to the Mac? I have an iMac G4 [PPC] running Mac OS 10.4.6.
Out of 80gb hard disk space I have 30±gb remaining. Can I run these
programmes from an external hard disk [have 3 with 'round 100gb
each remaining].
I have read a lot in your posts about using Daisy Player; so, I assume
there is a version for the Mac. Can someone help me with this, too? Is
Victor Speech, or something like that for the Mac, capable of reading
in other languages? VoiceOver does an abominable job of pronouncing
Spanish, French, German, Italian and Dutch; pronouncing them as though
they were English. Must I spend megabucks for reading software which
can do a credible, at least understandable, job of pronouncing these
languages. I do not ask for perfection in pronunciation. But I do like
to read books in the language in which they were written. 'T'is more
fun that way.
I will greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thank you.
