Several things here.
First, for public domain texts, try the best known public domain book site: project gutenberg. They've got lots and lots of pd books. Some of them are in other languages, but I don't know about the ones you're looking for. Second, be very careful of bookshare books. There is apparently no quality control on their submission process. A book may be listed as very good, and have hundreds of errors in the first 5 pages.
This is part of the reason I do not use them anymore.
And, third, Katie player is the only reader available for the mac at the moment. It's produced by kafka's daytime, and of course, that makes the url
http://www.kafkasdaytime.com.
One of the developers is a regular participant on list here, so if you have questions about it, he'll generally step in to help if someone else doesn't first.
