yes the shorter one is the monitor port. I did not think there was a difference between a mac and a pc monitor, but then if your pc is modern enough for this to be different perhaps this is the case.

When I got my beige g3, I got a monitor with it.

 in the back of the unit, on the lower right hand side  at the very bottom
 there are a series of ports.    Granted I am working as if you had the
 machine facing you and are reaching around behind it.   One of them as you
 have noticed looks like a printer  or parallel port.  there is a second
 port on the left.  Between the two of them there is a round port that is
 much like a mouse or keyboard port and one that fits a phone jack.
 The shorter of the two  ports is for the monitor.
 I hope that makes sense.
