The firmware version is indeed in the about this mac window.   
However, you need to click more information to get it.
I'm running 4.8.9f4 according to my about box.  I'm sure this isn't  
the latest, because I've seen firmware updates on the adc mailing  
discs, but since mine works, I've had no desire to upgrade it. *grin*
