Hi,
Thanks most sincerely! will grab the older edition which i trust is still
there.
I have a beige g3 mac, and indeed the modem I am trying to test is of the
serial port variety, no USB standard on this machine, and I have not added
a card with the ports yet.
I am going to use it with netscape 4.7 or .8 which I understand is the last
best outspoken version to ba had...assuming I can land a functional
modem.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that an OS X version is now available.
I am trying to discover if the modem I have for my G3 is actually
functional [snip] I understand you cannot just plug in one via a slot?
What model G3 do you have? OS 9 supports RS232 serial port modems
easier than USB. OS X supports USB easier than RS232. Both should be
okay with an internal modem. Internal modems can be added or replaced
(depending on computer model). You should also be able able to use an
external modem of some variety.
