For anybody who wants to look at comments, etc. on this blog, which
is actually about virtualization, you can find it at
http://www.rogueamoeba.com/utm/
There are also some links with this blog that didn't show up as links
in the post to our list.
Admitedly I could be totally wrong and embarrassed later, but the
part of the article about which some are concerned is headed with a
phrase containing "hot air" and after that is the heading about "a
cold splash of reality" which makes sense when you read his concerns
about developers and virtualization and users and virtualization,
which I found very thought-provoking btw.. And after the reality
heading comes the phrase "in all seriousness though". Furthermore,
there are several comments to this post, none of which mentions the
idea of an Apple switch to SPARC; this would suggest to me that this
was meant as a joke and was understood as such by those participating
in the blog. From the googling I did, I did see that there was a real
possibility that apple might have originally gone to SPARC instead of
Intel, so I'm not trying to claim for sure that this is all a joke
(besides, I have to be able to save face if ymy comments turn out to
be nonsense!) But I will say once again, and then I won't post about
this again, that the context and the response strongly suggest that
this was not meant to be taken seriously. If any of you are
participating in this blog, and want to ask about this, that would
probably be the most logical way of clarifying the issue. Certainly,
no matter how much we discuss it, none of us can say for sure whether
Paul was giving an insider tip or displaying a sense of humor.
Btw, I may have missed it but I didn't see the source given for this
blog posting. I googled for it and finally decided that it might be
on the rogue amoeba blog since this particular writer is with rogue
amoeba. I'd like to suggest that when we post something from a blog
or article or whatever, we also give the url so people can go and
check out the source for themselves without having to do a lot of
hunting.
Again, I could be totally wrong, in which case I may be glad i
haven't purchased an Intel Mac yet, but the only way to find out
would be to go to the source of the comments.
Thanks.
