It's true. Use the Mac for whatever you can and slowly you'll become fluent
in Mac-think. Personally, I still have a very long way to go. But sometimes
I surprise myself by remembering a keystroke combination.
Anybody know if a new version of voiceover is scheduled to come out? I know
tiger is fairly new but is Apple talking about the next version of their
operating system yet? Or have they mentioned the possibility of releasing an
upgrade to voiceover? Not that voiceover isn't good but it could be better.
I discovered quite accidentally last night that pressing command+w twice
spells the word currently under the cursor. Pressing command+w three times
spells it with the NATO letter-words. "Cat" would be "charlie alpha tango".
Pretty cool.
That could be a very useful feature. Lots of times when I'm using my linux
computer and a hardware synth (doubletalk LE), I have to backup several
times to try to find out if a letter is a b or a v. B and v are the worse
but d and t are also bad.

After purchasing a wireless router, and spending many hours of trying to
figure out how to get the Mac connected to the internet, it is now up and
working properly, I hope. When I purchased the Mac Book pro, I wish the
salesman would have told me that I needed to have a wireless router
installed in my household in order for the Mac to work properly. Well, my
son-in-law spent lots of his time and effort in installing the wireless
routher from linksys. His first two hour try failed at a proper
installation. So last night he came over and with the help of the Bell
South telephone operators another two hour or maybe a two and a half hour
effort paid off. When I learn how to get around in the Mac using Voice
Over, I will start posting here using the Mac. Until that time I will
continue to post with my PC.
I remember when the Mac was first switched on the VO came up saying it
would assist me with getting my Mac up and running. I think that must
have been a joke.
The laptop has small keys, and I am heavy handed, so I ordered a Mac
keyboard, which is to arrive here soon. I am eager to get this Mac
experience on the road. Any suggestions and recommendations on how to get
up to steam would be greatly appreciated.
