Except that politics is a small motivator for a commercial interests.
The iTunes related announcements this week were all about selling
stuff, mostly to brand new customers.  VoiceOver users are an untapped
market too, but small potatoes compared to the potential revenue to be
generated by $15 movie downloads.  It all comes down to money.

That is why the 508 regulations are civil rights statutes.  One cannot
depend on private enterprise to do the right thing unless it forced
upon them as a basic cost of doing business.

I would also point that in the Leopard Sneak Peak, only two features
are actually quote new unquote, that is Time Machine and Spaces.  Of
course, neither backing up nor multiple desktops are exactly novel
ideas!  We should be so lucky to have Universal Access improve as much
as Mail or iChat or Spotlight or Dashboard.
