Greg makes some really good points about the differences between the way JAWS etc works and VO. For what its worth, it would be great if VO gave you the ability to be able to extract headings and links in the similar way to JAWS/WE when browsing as currently it can seem a little limited in comparison - and I think they are features that other users would certainly miss.
I do take the point about VO facilitating greater interaction with the OS at a more integrated/fundamental level so the user can actually interact with the OS and not with the screen reader (if that makes sense), so the screen reader is facilitating the interaction in a transparent way. Its a different model and there are sure to be application support issues also. Anyhoo, Have a good weekend y'all :) Josh
