Well, how about taking the images containing inaccessible information and feed
them to an OCR? This should help at least in these cases, where the images
contain text, but it would take some time to recognize the text and it
wouldn't help in these cases, where images are not text, but rather different
graphical symbols. I don't know how old quark xpress is, but I guess it should
expose something like a DOM and therefore there is a way to get the needed
parts building up the program with an applescript as far as I can say from my
short researches yesterday :-)
I would check it myself, but unfortunately I don't have a mac yet and leopard
is delayed, as you all know, to perhaps october *sigh*

Anyways, just some ideas.
