Yes, Outlook and Windows are a very dangerous combination if you want to spread SPAM and receive it too, I read somewhere that Microsoft are actually retiring Outlook Distress completely now because of its vonerabilities, security risks etc. The most annoying thing about this all in my view is that you run what I've said (which is well documented) past people who ought to know better, who are doing tech support work and who are paid to keep clients computers secure and they just laugh, ah well, at least some people are a wake up and if everyone stopped using Outlook DE Pest then the amount of SPAM on the Internet would decrease drastically.

Hi Gabe and Dne,

To be honest, I didn't know that, and it makes sense to me, thanks Dane for explaining your statement.

nope, we all knew that, I am looking for an expanded explanation on why again, spam's existance is due to outlook express and windows.

Ah, now I'm surprised that a person who calls himself a computer tech wiz (I'm assuming that's what you are supposed to be) should even have to ask this but for the benefit of other list members who would probably have actually asked in a polite manner about my email then I'll gladly answer, those ignorant so-called "tech- types" may wish to delete or not read the following as it is directed to the "non-arrogant" amongst us <smile>. I said in my previous message that a great source of SPAM was Outlook Depress and Windows and why? Well the main reason being that Outlook transmits a users address book all over the place and your average firewall doesn't block this transmission as its deemed "friendly data". The solution? Well that's pretty obvious really, use a Mac <smile>. or if you have to use Windows, use an email client which doesn't rely on shared resources such as the Windows address book for its data, such clients include Eudora, Thunderbird and so on.

Can you explain why using windows and outlookexpress contribute to spam's existance?

Well its not the Mac's fault actually, the main cause of SPAM problems are those who insist on using Whine-Dows and Outlook Depress.

Hi all,
Well I'm amazed. On a mac they claim you can't have viruses and other
forms of malware, but you can still have spam? I know how spam is
delivered, but I'm just shocked to hear that someone may be receiving
spam through Skype. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
