Hi James,
It is well to put your computer to sleep between uses throughout
the day; however, it is good to shut-down at night to clear the
ram and such. Programs can develop funny little quirks when the
system does not have the opportunity to clear.
There's more to sight than meets the eye!

Subject: To sleep or to shut down?
Hi folks,
Just to clear up something I was adviced and have read elseware.
Is
it true that it is best not to shutdown your mac? I have been
told
that it's best to put it to sleep rather than shutting it down.
Is
this fact or fiction? It's said that if you restart it a lot, you
could possibly damage it! Is this true or just rumours?
Best
