Hello James,

Of course your MacBook will take Leopard. There will be some very old machines that won't be powerful enough, but Apple is very good when it comes to backward compatibility. My sister runs Tiger on a 350 MHz G3 Clamshell iBook which must be 6 years old if it's a day.
