I hate using the desktop because for some reason VO doesn't behave properly when reading through the files and folders there, so I keep my desktop very tidy with an alias to my documents folder and the drive iCon and that's it.

Hello James,

I use my Desktop for temporary files and folders that I intend to file correctly later or throw away. The Mac way of doing things is to keep the Desktop tidy.

Cheers,

Anne

Hi folks,

what is the difference between putting applications that aren't running on the doc as opposed to making aliases and putting them on the desktop? What I am asking really is, if we have a doc anyway that lists all our applications that we use a good deal like safari, XNNTP in my case, etc, etc, why have a desktop as well?

Best
