See Windows is still in me. I always wondered what the differance
was, now I can picture its I guess in the search field you wouldn't
put library/component in the edit field, like I tried to do on last
night.

It's not a matter of thinking you should have known all about ogg
files or all about where to copy them, just a matter of trying the
instructions you are given and then reporting back your results. I
can't see any way you should have known the difference it would
make if you put the component in /Library/Components vs. Library/
Components in your home directory. If you used command-shift-c you
placed it in your global Library probably: /Library. If you used
command-shift-h you placed it in your home directory: /Users/
username/Library. By username I mean whatever your username is. But
probably the idea of slash in your path is something you think more
about if you are working in the terminal application on the Mac;
when you are navigating with Finder, you don't think as much about
paths that way.
The key you are referring to as "alt" is called "cmd" or "command"
on the Mac. If you have an
apple keyboard, the key next to the command key is called the
option key and the third key is called Control--one familiar name
at least!!!
