Thanks for your help. The only way to figure it out is test it. Now

I'm not sure about leopard because I don't have it yet, but I would

Are you on Tiger or Leopard? I am on Leopard and it gives a option
to use G-Mail. With that said, do I still need Jabber and its plug-
in? If not will this new configuration of G-Mail give me the voice/
audio?

No. You only get that if you use a real Jabber server. Here you
are only using the chat portion of the googletalk server. If you
want full access to Jabber's features then you'll need to go to www.jabber.org.au
and get a Jabber id.

So again will this give me Audio and Video?

I did the same thing. I had to create my googletalk account. I
thought I could jus use my email address. I thought I had
created a googletalk login in IChat but knew that somehow it was
jabber and was then able to go back, delete it and redo it as a
google talk account

I went back in and set up Google and used the google.talk.com
option for the server. Where I think I went wrong is by putting
my Google login into Jabber. Come to think about it, that seemed
to work too.

you have to setup a google talk account and pick a user name.
You can get client software or use the googletalk gadget.

as far as I know, there is no oogle talk software.

OK, got it setup but I don't have any buddies. Now how do I get
the Google Talks software to enable audio/video and what do I
do with it once I get it? Does it download and export to I Chat?

Jabber is just a protocol that is a standard accross
platforms. Ichat supports the protocol, but it also supports
AIM, so you only have to use 1 chat client for Jabber and
AIM. If you already have a gmail account, then you can
already Jabber by loging into Jabber using your gmail address
and password and the google talk server. Just create a Jabber
account in Ichat. If you already have an AIM account, go into
the Ichat preferences and create an AIM account using your
screen name and password. If you don't have an existing AIM
account then it is easy enough to create one, but like you
say, you would need help to get around that picture thing.

I don't know what Jabber is or how to use it and AIM has that
security feature where you have to type what you see. I never
used I Chat, before I just need to play around with it. Is
Jabber in I Chat and do I need to download Google Talks?

Why don't you just create an AIM account and sign into that
using Ichat? Sign into your Jabber account using your gmail
address and password in Ichat. Ichat can be a Jabber
client. The thing you won't be able to do if you do things
this way is have an audio or video chat with your jabber
contacts because your aren't using the googletalk software.
If you are talking to an AIM contact, however, you can have
a vedio conversation. At least I can on my Imac.

Thanks, then in that case what is Jabber and how can I get
it? Does it have the picture verification when sighning up?

You both need to be on the same messaging service, i.e.
AIM or GoogleTalk. IChat serves as just the conduet.

With using I Chat do I need to use the same chat provider
as the person I want to chat with? For example if one
person is using AIM and I use GMail can we still talk
because we both are on I Chat or do I have to use AIM
with him?
