Thanks I was wondering if there was a sort of jump to Google feature
like in IE7 and JAWS. That is very helpful, how did you figure it out?

To comment on the last part of your message concerning Jedd and
others. Some nice list member forwarded me a kind of setting up your
Mac tutorial in text format that I followed to the T and it helped me
to understand what and why things needed to be done this way. It
talked about Calculator, Text Edit, Safari, and Cursor Tracking. If
someone wants a copy please let me know.
I can think of a couple of documents that help do things like that.
There's a "Using Mac Applications with VoiceOver" Guide that
John Hess wrote, with versions up at the ICanWorkThisThing.Com
web site at:

You can use the link chooser menu or the item chooser menu to
download a text file copy. Here's the link to that document.

This is pretty good, but I'd suggest a few shortcuts to improve it.
For example, I search with Google using the built-in Google search
bar under Safari by using Option-Command-F to go directly to the
Google toolbar for searching in Safari and don't bother with
navigating
to the address bar, typing in www.google.com, going to the Google
web page, moving to the input text field, etc. Option-Command-F
not only puts you into the Google Search toolbar field, but it will
open it up along with the Address Bar even if you're on a web page
where the Address bar is hidden. (I use Option-Command-F on
a lot of apps, such as FInder Open Dialogs and iTunes even when
I also get to this field with searching , because I always know where
it is.)
Also, I personally loved a lot of the directions that Tim Kilburns put
on his home page, and his tips and tricks link at:
http://homepage.mac.com/kilburns/voiceover/tips.html
had a lot of one-off items that are very useful. His pages haven't
been updated for several months, and he hasn't posted on the
list for some time, but I highly recommend reading his posts if
you search the mailing list archive for the discuss list and come
across
posts that he authored.
Cheers,
Esther

Hi Josh,
Your Quick Tips are very helpful . . .

Also, I have a suggestion for additional content on lioncourt.com.
How about a page describing preference options, and suggested
configurations? I

I was thinking about this, especially since some of the problems
I've heard from Jed and others seem to stem from never having
set up their options, even these many weeks after they've started
using their Macs. Even reading the manual, it's not always
immediately obvious what the benefits are of doing things certain
ways. That's what I most enjoy finding out about on the list from
the experiences of other users.
Sorry to highjack your nice Quick Tip post with these comments!
