OK thanks Darcy now that seems like a good way to manage music. easy enough when you know how. the problem I had was that I had a DVD with folders on it each folder was an album. when itunes imported it didn't recognise some of the artists. so i had to manually rename or move files. any how that's good advice and i hopefully will remember it

thanks

Keith

Hi Keith. In the future, I really wouldn't put songs in the itunes music folder manually. You should let itunes take care of that folder itself. If I have a folder of mp3 files that I want to import, here's how I do it. Open up the folder in finder, and do a command a to select all files. Then do a command o to open them all. Itunes will import all the files, and place them in to the itunes music folder.
