hi there

from a windows guy here.

the FAT 32 drive format created by microsoft works on large hard drives upto
250gb though it has been documented that it can handle upto 320gb.but there
is a downside to FAT 32, there is a maximum data fork handling of 4GB which
maybe a problem if handling large data files on that drive.

I would recommend using the drive in Apple extended format journaled. that
way if you are working on the mac most of the time then your data is there
right by your side.

in terms of drives anyway here is a good bit of info. there is a product
from Iomega which is a caddy system. hot swappable. and runs several drives in
RAID array. it can be firewire or USB driven. ideal if you are doing pro
audio work and other work or running your mac as an app server or data backup
rig
etc.

lol

happy new year all
