Robin, just as a very quick intro, there are in my opinion, of
course, lol! two main parts of the Mac screen that people see. These
are the desktop and dock. Within the dock, you have two areas, one
for your running processes and trash and such, and the other for your
status icons...
You can get to the dock by pressing ctrl option d and to the
desktop by pressing ctrl option shift d. In either case you can then
use the arrows to navigate and ctrl option space to activate a
particular highlighted item...
You can access the status icons by pressing ctrl option m twice.
And then, as before, use the arrow keys (left or right) to navigate
and once on a menu, navigate it by using up / down arrows.
Two more quick things to note are the finder, and spotlight. The
finder is similar to windows explorer and when on the desktop or when
viewing a folder, you're automatically in finder. You can access it's
menus by pressing ctrl option m and this command also works in any app
to access it's menu bar as well. so the last thing is spotlight, and
it's extremely useful and fast... It's a search utility which
searches everything on your computer and I do mean everything! lol!
So you can run apps from it, access email msgs get definitions of
words etc... It's amazing and it happens almost instantaneously after
you simply type your query in the edit field. YOu get to spotlight by
pressing ctrl option m three times consecutively and you'll be
automatically in the edit field where you can type a portion, or all
of whatever it is you might be looking for on your computer. After
you finish typing, you can use ctrl option up or down arrows to see
your choices and ctrl option space, as I mentioned before, activates a
particular choice...
This is just a very quick intro, and I hope it gets you started...
Have a lovely day!...
Smiles,
Cara :)

Hey all!
I just subscribed to this mailing list because I got a new MAC Book
running MAC OS Leopard! Well, after installing the English MAC OS,
going
through the Voice Over tutorial and the MAC assistant I am now in the
main OS. But now, I have no idea how to continue... Can someone please
tell me how the system is layed out, how I can open folders and how I
can access the start menu (if there's something like the start menu in
Windows in the MAC OS...)? I'd also be really glad to talk to
someone on
Skype who could explain this to me... Also, is there maybe a "getting
started with MAC and Voice Over" tutorial, or, even better, an audio
review? Thanks!
Robin
