Hi James.
I have also used DOS, and a lot of versions of Windows.
I recommend you to check out the Mac. It runs very stable, and I find it
easy to learn. As a student, I haven't have much time to play with my new
Mac yet, but I know the basic things about Voiceover.
I don't recommend you to totally switch to Mac before you have learned how
it works. I'm sure you'll like the Mac, and I'm sure you'll be able to learn
to use it.
Best regards:
Søren Jensen

I am James from the United Kingdom.
I am just about to order myself a new iMac

2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
500GB Serial ATA Drive.
I have been a PC user for a very long time
was using the old dos system until windows came along.
I am going to take my first steps to using Macs.
I am a Deafblind person.
with the new Leopard O.S. that will deafblind people use Braille
display's within Leopard. Do you think that I would be able to move
over to a Mac, or is Leopard not up to it yet.
I now my way about PC's help to fix family PC's when they are not working
right,
I have no sight and can't hear speech software so a Braille display is my
only way to use the Mac.
For me I am looking Forward to getting my head around the new mac system
and the way it works.
But as mac users here do you think a Deafblind person would be able to
use one. I would be the Braille display from a PacMate BX400.
have two PowerBraille displays a 40 and a 80 but they are the old version
with no USB.
I would be very grateful for your help here.
I have been looking into them for a good few months after Leopard was
made available. So I think I now what I am getting into but just a little
unsure to take that step.
I have always wished a could have a Mac but for me they where not
Accessible. until Now.
I have read that Quicksilver lets you start applications from the keyboard
is this any good for us.
But are there any deafblind people on this list that are use a Mac.
I am Pleased that I have became a member of this list.
all the very best to you.
Yours
James
