Hey Bill, thanks muchly for the note, but no dice. <smile> I was actually using the return (rather than enter) key, and it still just acts wiggie!... lol! I'm guessing this has got to be a bug with VO as this doesn't always happen, but does happen enough that I thought it had to be me! lol! -Not sure how this kind of bug could get through, but alas here it seems to be. BtW, if anyone can let me know of anything I can do or might be doing wrong, that'd be great, otherwise, I suppose I'll be writing to Apple over the weekend to let them know...

Again, thankie for the note and honestly, great suggestion! I was psyched until I realized I'd been using the right key! lol!...

Catch ya on the flip!...

Smiles,

Cara :)

  HHey Cara, Bill here.
Usually I don't have answers to these but, I was rather curious when I saw your msg re: vo find, and what I discovered was this. See, I figured that "an enter was an enter was an enter"; however with vo find, this doesn't seem to be the case. I found when I entered vo+f folled by a text string that I knew to be in the .txt file followed by the return just to the left of the left arrow, the only thing that happened was I stayed right where I was in the file at the time of entry. When I checked with left arrow and moved my cursor to the left the number of characters in the string plus one, and checked out the contents of the string by using right arrow, at the end of the string was the word enter; however when I entered the same
character string, of course after clearing with escape, folled by the
enter key above the right shift key, all worked as expected, and I was
then moved to the place in the file with the search string. Hope this
helps, *big smile*

Cheers: illey All, hope yer all having a lovely Fri!!!...

I have a quickie question concerning the find function in VO... I've
noticed that in several situations it just doesn't bloody well seem to
work! lol!

The latest situation was in Text Edit and I needed to search for a
word some way down in the document, that was most definitely present,
as I had just been there and needed to navigate back to it. I went to
the top of the doc and did VO f, typed in the word, noting carefully,
the spelling and even the capitalization, and pressed return...
*nothing* <smile> -And I do mean nothing! <smile> I stayed right
where I was in the doc, and was not placed on the word in question...

I rinsed and repeated, and still nothing...

I then needed to manually move through the doc until I was where I
needed to be.

First off, am I doing anything wrong by simply typing the text in the
find field and pressing return?...

I know this is a VO thing, as I tried the plain Text Edit search
function with command F and it found the word immediately. So I'm
wondering what's up with the VO search?...

In this case, I was able to get around it, but I use the search
function all the time, for webpages, and have also encountered this
way too much for my comfort level. <smile>

Is there something I could be doing differently to cause this to
work better?...

thanks so much for any help / suggestions! -And have a great day!...

Smiles,

Cara :)
