Well you should be able to interact with a link as a text box etc.  
However, this isn't the case with VO currently and I'm not sure what  
Apple plans for this in the future. This is one of a few differences  
with respect to browsing on the Mac verses windows. I'm sure there's a  
good reason why the link can't be interacted with in the manner we are  
most familiar with in windows. I have a thought that if this behavior  
can't be changed, an option to have VO slow down to a predetermined,  
user definable speech rate when pressing vo-keys plus w twice to get  
the spelling of something. Think this is at least one possible solution.
