Yup you're right all the way. I might get them both if the MBP gets a major upgrade in the processor area. I like the MBA for training and it seems to work well for portability. Also I think it'll work well for the glances of a sighted onlooker. Plus it beats the price of a note taker and does far more for far less. With the purchase of them both makes me think of the 8 cores that the Mac Pro offers and gives me a hard decision to make if I choose those two.

I don't know that I'd get an MBA as my only mac. However, just to clarify:
you can get an external dvd to attach by usb;
you can get a usb adaptor to do ethernet;
you can use a usb hub.
Obviously for portability and battery conservation ou aren't going to want to use a usb hub and/or a bunch of external devices but you do have those options to use when needed. so if your main issue is portability, if you don't need a dvd drive constantly, and/or you are using another Mac as your home base, I think the MBA is a great idea. I for one think I might like to have one at some point; can't afford it right now.

Yeah I think I will too. Especially if they will have four processors
and four gigs of RAM.

Hey. You realize you're going to lose a whole bunch of connectivity
options with an MBA, don't you? If you travel a lot, and do nothing
but wireless things, then get one. However, in this case, size is not
a good thing. You only get one USB port, no SuperDrive, and no LAN
port. I wouldn't get one if you paid me, but that's just me. I'm just
letting you know what you're in for.

I haven't played extensively with an MBP, but the feel of the
keyboards are pretty different. The keys themselves on an MBP are
contoured whereas on a MB they are, in large part, not. There's
also a bit of space between each key, which I didn't see on the MBP.

As far as layout goes though, I can't say. There was certainly no
numpad though. As I said, It was very much like (if not identical
to) a keyboard on an MB.

<smile> I'm sensing a trip to an Apple store in your immediate
future?…  lol!

Anyway, have an awesome day! Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Listers for those who may have touched a Mac Book Air I wanted
to know when they say full keyboard, do they mean it has a
