This is a great point. It's really not designed to be a
primary laptop. It's in a league of its own and if you put it in the
context of the note taker world for blind people, it simply blows the
doors of of them all.

Yeah, but if you look at it as if it was a glorified note taker and
not your primary machine then it becomes a wonderful tool.

Hey. You realize you're going to lose a whole bunch of connectivity
options with an MBA, don't you? If you travel a lot, and do nothing
but wireless things, then get one. However, in this case, size is not
a good thing. You only get one USB port, no SuperDrive, and no LAN
port. I wouldn't get one if you paid me, but that's just me. I'm just
letting you know what you're in for.

I haven't played extensively with an MBP, but the feel of the
keyboards are pretty different. The keys themselves on an MBP are
contoured whereas on a MB they are, in large part, not. There's
also a bit of space between each key, which I didn't see on the
MBP.
As far as layout goes though, I can't say. There was certainly no
numpad though. As I said, It was very much like (if not identical
to) a keyboard on an MB.
<smile> I'm sensing a trip to an Apple store in your immediate
future?… lol!
Anyway, have an awesome day! Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Listers for those who may have touched a Mac Book Air I wanted
to know when they say full keyboard, do they mean it has a
number pad or does full size mean something else?
