Hi,
Wow, and Apple IIe computer with speech? I'm betting it was Milo
Street's Echo II speech synthesizer. Anyway, your choice of a
MacBook is in my opinion, the best mac value and laptop value in the
marketplace. You may find you can save a good deal of cash by using
amazon.com. No sales tax and I think about$75 rebate on the MacBook.
As for VoiceOVer, yes, the core things like menus, help and most
controls will work with VoiceOVer out of the box. It's the
application specific controls and areas that tend to break.
Unfortunately, this means MS Office and CS Suite are useless and
don't' work with VoiceOver. You will have to make some compromises
about what applications you use, but I think you'll find something
out there that will get the job done.
To find applications, try us on the list, but macupdate.com is a nice
site as well as versiontracker.com. But, a google with the terms Mac
and download along with what application you're looking for tend to
yield great results.
I think you'll be happy with the Mac.
Best,
Scott
