Btw, Hello again all; Shaun, yes you can do tables in TextEdit.
Look in the format menu, in the text submenu. You'll see an option
for lists and one for tables.
In the table dialogue, there are more options for merging of cells
etc.
OUt of curiosity, might you go over the diffs between a so-called
'text editor' vs a 'word processor?" I'm not understanding your
distinction clearly. Thanks so much!
Have a terrific day!…
Smiles,
Cara :)

If you have to ask then something is seriously wrong with your
thought process. Can you do your college studies with Text Edit?
That's almost like saying creating tables and spreadsheets are the
same. By the way, can you create tables, foot notes or the like in
Text Edit? The answer is no and that answer is simple. Its because
it is a Text Editor and not a word processor. I can type text in a
web form, edit it and change font sizes, but that doesn't make it a
text editor much less a word processor. If it was a word processor
then we wouldn't need Microsoft to make MS Word accessible, we
wouldn't be looking at other alternatives to word processing such as
Nisus Writer. Even the makers of Bean which is a closer example and
a better tooled text editor says it isn't a word processor. Just
because you can type text doesn't make it a word processor.
