Again the keys to press is control and option not command. Control is
the key to the right of the function key and then the option and
command key follows.

yep, I was pressing command space bar on the tab, and it brought me
to the spotlight menu. I know that's also the shortcut to get to
spotlight though, so I was thinking maybe voiceover was confused as
to what function it's supposed to perform? maybe it's fn/vo/space?
I'm using a macbook, if that makes a difference.

Are you sure you are pressing control option space bar and not
command space bar? Your friends info was correct that if you press
VO space bar on a given tab you will be provided with choices
related to that tabs controls.

hey guys
Im back with a newbie question, lol. my dad has a mac running
tiger that he uses for work and is letting me play with, so I'm
gettin' some first hand vo experience this weekend!! and I'm
pretty impressed with myself, i started lookin' at it last night
and I've already gone through almost the whole manual and am
navigating the finder and doc and different applications and
dialog boxes pretty confidently.
anyway, yeah. I was in text edit prefferences trying to change
some things and I found navigating multi-page dialog boxes really
confusing. it seemed like everything was just randomly clumped
together. a friend from the list told me that vo/space would
select the tab and show only the settings for that tab, so I
tried it on the voiceover utility menu and in the text edit
prefference dialog, and it just kept bringing me to the
spotlight, even though I was on the tab I wanted to select. then,
when I closed the spotlight menu, it would say, for example,
voices tab selected, but I'd still see settings for other tabs
too. so I'mnot quite sure why it was bringing me to the spotlight
menu in the first place when I was clearly on a tab, lol.
anyone have any suggestions?
thanks in advance lol!
